Vivica Fox

She’s demanding. She’s spoiled. She’s pampered. She’s hated by some and disliked by many and, at times, she’s even the one you love to hate. But in the end she’s still a tall, slender, fashionable diva that demands respect and if you don’t want to surrender it, she will take it. She is CRUELLA DE VIL! Being that they share an aura of power and strength, there was none other to better fit the concept of Kontrol’s Cruella De Vil-themed photo shoot with the ever-talented Allen Cooley than Vivica Fox. When she walked in the studio an air of respect, dominance, and diva followed. And though she went through many changes of hair, make-up, and wardrobe, she still managed to give an energetic shoot and interview, personally answer her fans’ questions, and make everyone in the studio feel as though she has known them forever. Vivica Fox is nothing like the “Bitch” you read about in the blogs or some of the characters she portrays on film, but it is evident that she is in charge of her life and in the end, she is determined to come out on top.

Vivica Fox is better than ever. She has come a long way since the young girl who left her hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana to pursue her dreams of becoming a fashion model in Los Angeles. Not realizing that she would probably never think twice about the road not taken (modeling), Vivica literally fell into acting and since then all the chips have somehow seemed to have fallen into place. “Acting fell in my lap. I was discovered by a producer by the name of Trevor Walton while I was having lunch on Sunset Boulevard. I originally wanted to be a model”, Vivica says. As an actress she was greatly influenced by Pam Grier, whose illustrious character she named her production company, Foxy Brown Productions, in homage of. “I completely connected with her being strong, beautiful, and tall. And she played Foxy Brown and I actually gravitated to that because my name is Vivica Fox.” She has not only had the chance to meet the woman she admired as a child but she has also built a personal relationship with her. Vivica Fox is a living example of the phrase, “Dreams don’t come easy, they come true”.

Chilli of TLC

The Buckhead area of Atlanta is home to some of the city’s wealthiest, most successful and well-known people, which made Kontrol’s on location photo shoot very becoming of Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas. She is a member of TLC, once the largest selling female group in history, and has been on superstardom’s roller coaster of a ride for almost twenty years, yet , she remains humble. Before meeting Chilli, I knew that she was beautiful both inside and out, but in person her big, vibrant and genuine personality was unparallel to her petite frame. Her personality lit up the entire set as she gave Kontrol on “What Chilli Wants” ultimately.

Every girl’s fantasy is to find that special someone –her soul mate-- and to share her life, love and happiness with him. Though Chilli has become a global icon for so many women, she remains humble and genuine and shares the same fantasy. She has accomplished major success as a member of TLC; who has sold over 50 million albums world-wide, had four number one hits, numerous top ten hits, three multi-platinum albums, one diamond album, four Grammys and countless other accolades, but her ultimate dream is to find her soul mate. Her hit reality show, “What Chilli Wants” chronicles her quest, which is navigated by love expert Tionna Smalls, for the ‘perfect guy’ for Chilli, who must also live up to all the standards of her famous checklist. On the show she meets several guys who Tionna thinks are a good fit and could possibly be the one, but much to her dismay, Chilli learns that finding a man that fits her criteria is as challenging as anything else and the fact that she was once in a relationship with someone as polished, well-put-together and genuine as Usher doesn’t make the task any easier.

Dawn Richard

Many fans of this pop-star would agree that she has shown herself to be comparable to a feline with her natural ability to overcome several situations in the past few years. Dawn Richards, a singer and songwriter, gave Kontrol a little insight on how she has become the woman she is today. Her first major debut in the entertainment spotlight was on the third season of P. Diddy’s “Making the Band”. There she was able to become part of one of the hottest female groups to hit the airwaves, Danity Kane. Danity Kane proved themselves to be a force to be reckoned with, by releasing two #1 albums. The fame seemed to quickly fall shortly thereafter, as many rumors began surfacing and individual members of the group felt what they believed to be favoritism on Diddy’s behalf. “Puff doesn’t favor people, he’s a businessman and knows talent; it’s that simple”, Dawn immediately responds back during the interview. Although the plug was pulled on Danity Kane, Diddy quickly resurfaced with a new group featuring himself, Dawn Richards, and Kalenna Harper, who called themselves “Dirty Money”. When asked about her initial feelings of possibly being in a new group she responds, “I had a lot of armor on, especially with the situation with Danity Kane. I had the thought process of them being forever, so the idea of being in a new group was sort of skeptical, but the crazy thing is I had the idea of being in a group, hence, the whole reason for me doing “Making the Band”. It was a bittersweet thing; I wanted to be a part of something like that, so it was exciting to still be a part of a group, yet, scary knowing that I had to learn to like and to rely on a new set of people, one of them being my boss! The same guy who fired my previous group”, mentions Dawn laughingly. “I also wanted to kind of prove that the things being said, like the solo stuff weren’t true, because they really weren’t. I was battling to prove people wrong, to prove myself right, and then be a part of what I really wanted. I’ve always wanted to be a part of a movement with a group of people who shared the same passion, which I thought was Danity Kane, but when it disappeared and when the opportunity arouse itself I thought about making the right decision of joining another group because of my differences that people would not have understood”. Dirty Money has released some of the hottest singles to include, “Love Come Down” and “Hello Good Morning”. When asked her favorite track on the upcoming album, Dawn responds “The album, the 67 records we have weighed down…there is a record we did with Danger called ‘Yea You Would’ that is amazing. ” Dawn, along with the other members of Dirty Money, hope to do solo projects in the future. “I think Dirty Money is going to be bigger and be around longer than what we really think” states Dawn.

Bianca Golden

There have been 14 cycles and 7 seasons of Tyra Banks’ America’s Next Top Model (ANTM). Approximately 183 Top Model prospects have stood in front of Tyra Banks and her merry-go-round of celebrity judges from Janice Dickinson, to Twiggy, to Kimora Lee Simmons.

Only a handful of the girls stood out for different reasons. We remember Robin Manning from Cycle 1 for her unwavering religious views. We remember Rebecca Epley from Cycle 4 for fainting at the weekly elimination. And we remember Bianca Golden from Cycle 9 for her extreme makeover, a buzz cut.

“I was watching (America’s Next) Top Model since I was 12 years old,” says Bianca, a top four finalist for Season 5. She was obviously too young at 12 to audition for the show, but “Once I turned 18, I went with some friends to audition,” making Bianca (a native of Queens, New York) the youngest model chosen for her cycle.

She describes her ANTM experience as a “Summer Camp Experience.” Models were forced to focus on the competition with no communication with family or friends. “At the time it was hard,” says Bianca, who doesn’t describe herself as a naturally competitive person, “I just want to win in life, at everything and anything!” She is on the right path. She is currently signed to FORD New York and FORD Chicago.

Hello,
My name is Delany, I am 20-years-old and I have always struggled with self-esteem and confidence issues. Growing up I was so skinny to such extent, everyone thought I was anorexic which lead me to eat a lot of junk when I was in my teen years. As a result, I gained weight but lost it all..so I currently have minor stretch marks on my thigh/hip area. My dream has always been to model (print modeling), but I feel that my physical has so many flaws yet everyone perceives me as extremely beautiful and encourage me to chase my dream. However, I don’t know where to go, what’s right, or where to start. I feel that in my heart I can do this.. But can my bits of stretch marks and flaws be barriers for me? Thank you so much for taking your time out to give advice to others in need.
-Delany

Delany, I think it’s almost second nature for humans to pick at everything on our bodies and call it a flaw. There are things we deem in our minds as flaws that others either don’t notice or would simply say make you different from anyone else. Do not let your minor stretch marks keep you from pursuing your dream. There are tons of supermodels with very serious skin conditions that clients hire and work with everyday and find ways to cover up their blemishes. Walk in with confidence and walk out achieving your dream. Don’t say it’s over if you haven’t even tried. Believe in yourself and your dream instead of being negative and think you are flawed. After all, you can’t be Tyra Banks for example, but you can be the best Delany you can be! You are unique and beautiful in your own way! Check out my blog at biancagoldenonline.blogspot.com where I talk about my personal feelings on why “I feel so ugly”. Love you, be you and stay true!
